It is important to do what is needed for the community. - Gunji Taiho Jutsu is a Military Arresting | Apprehension Art.
Over the many years of training in Martial Arts, it seems like every generation builds off the former to improve the direction he or she is heading with the study and practice of Jujutsu. We have become no different in this approach as we find ourselves teaching and working with Military personnel while serving in the Armed Services. This time on the mats is different compared to what is happening during off duty hours at a local Martial Arts school.
In a way Gunji Taiho Jutsu is the new era for taiho jutsu techniques (arresting technique) as it is a progressive way to teach Military or Law Enforcement personnel many of the traditional and contemporary jujutsu techniques of control and arrest while at the same time keeping mindful of secondary weapon systems during training and complementing all of the current and evolving Military Combatives programs in place for the different branches of the Military.
Gunji Taiho Jutsu has reformed arresting technique further than any taiho jutsu organization and quite frankly we are concerned many continue without progressing in a changing world.
Here is a quick look at the GTJ systems.
GTJ PAT Triangle Theory
He or those that control the triangle structure will control PCS 2 in GUNJI TAIHO JUTSU.
Don't allow the suspect to maintain the top of the triangle structure.
PAT is most effective when two officers break the triangle structure by rushing, controlling the sides of the suspect or even the rear
GTJ PAT ABC's
PAT A - Arm Controls
PAT B - Body Controls
PAT C - Cranium Controls
Have Awareness of the suspect's hands and Approach with handcuffs in your hand eye view level.
Put the arrestee at a disadvantage position and connect to his or her Base.
Use Controlling force to complete the handcuffing, Control yourself (emotions) and the overall position.
Complete the handcuffing technique in a direct manner and avoid unnecessary steps and lag time(s).
Improved searching strategies and tactics.
Gunji Taiho Jutsu Develops 1st and 2nd Form (Katas) for Arresting Technique.
A goal of Ichi-No-Kata is to having a formal kata for taiho jutsu that gives a practitioner another level of studying and training arresting techniques. The form showcases the unique principles, methods, theories, and techniques of GTJ.
The Japanese word for rotation is kaiten. The arresting technique's primary objective is turning a resisting person to his stomach. This second GTJ kata teaches essential system concepts, such as PCS and PCA strategies on the ground.
